My path towards Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution.

In an instant we can change course to unimaginable destinations. As a lawyer, I worked for several years in the public service, because it was expected for someone in that profession. As a child, she had lived in different countries until travel became a constant in my life, giving me culture, diversity and great learning. More than in a classroom or library, my knowledge comes from seeing, feeling, hearing and tasting the world. I would leave for a year or two, return home, continue my studies and return to the plane, that was the dynamic. The idea of becoming a lawyer was exacerbated in Japan, when I discovered peace as a way of life in that society. My father was a lawyer; Seeing him in his profession was inspiring to decide to take that course, it took years to understand that what he really wanted was to help others with generosity, as he did. Since I was a lawyer, I had to become one. Being young, That year generated intellectual noise and was fundamental for me to take the path of studies for peace, although I did not know it at the time. I returned to Mexico to graduate and one of my dreams was to be a public defender. Perhaps I had not defined the course, but I was clear about what I did not want in my life, and that was to work within the penal branch. At the time I saw myself working in the Ministry of Public Security and a little later, I fulfilled my dream of being a public defender, to my criminal surprise. I lived in the city of Guerrero practicing and one day, I was invited to a Rotary meeting where they had an exclusive guest who, had I not sat down next to him, would not have traveled to India to conduct field research on human rights. Likewise, if I had not lived in India, I would not have met the person who later helped me study one of the most important master's degrees in the world in the United Kingdom, focused on conflict resolution and peace studies.

Living in Guerrero working as a criminal defender implied a risk to my personal safety. After a few months I began to receive calls from within the penitentiary and even received threats and I was persecuted on the road. It was when I got a change to the capital within the civil and family defense. It agreed that the director created the first mediation unit in the state within the ombudsman and I was invited to collaborate with her. It was when I discovered the Alternate Means of Conflict Resolution. One afternoon I received an email with information about the Rotary Peace Fellowship and I remembered the coordinator of the exchange group to India. I contacted her, I told her about my intention to participate and she said: No one in Mexico has won it, less in this district, but I want to support you. There are ten people in the world per year, it is difficult. Do not worry, I endorse your application through my club, the rest of the signatures and national interviews correspond to you and the final selection is made in the United States. After months of hard work, I received an acceptance email. My life changed again. I resigned from government, packed my bags and went to live in England. From there fate took me to Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe and America conducting research on peace building and conflict resolution.
